Jenna Sudds


Jenna is a change agent. She is determined, focused and passionate. With a passion for community, business and innovation, Jenna is constantly striving for innovative ways to make positive changes. Making the ordinary, extraordinary.

Jenna is currently the Executive Director of the Kanata North Business Improvement Area, and also sits on the Board of Directors for the Kanata Food Cupboard. In her free time she is an avid runner, running multiple half-marathons each year, and raising 3 beautiful daughters with her husband Tim.

Jennifer Stewart

Public Relations

With a background in journalism, Jennifer Stewart understands what it takes to craft compelling narratives, whether it’s for reporters, stakeholders or government. As President and Founder of Syntax Strategic, a forward-thinking public relations firm in Kanata, Jennifer has worked with a variety of clients in the petroleum, automotive, nuclear, museums and travel sectors.

Jennifer is also actively involved in the Ottawa community. She currently sits on the board of the Women in Communication and Technology association, and the Kanata Food Cupboard. She is a committee member of Project North, and former Vice President of IABC Ottawa.

Deborah Lovegrove

Communications Lead

Deborah brings over 20 years of experience in marketing communications, branding and event planning. She’s held a variety marketing positions in manufacturing, high tech and associations and non-profit organizations.

With a passion for communicating the right message, Deborah has implemented successful and innovative communication plans and publicity programs. She’s worked as a Creative Director and Marketing Consultant with agencies and other leading corporations in Montréal and Ottawa, overseeing visual and digital media and engaging relationships through a variety of Social Media platforms. One of her favorite TED talks is about overcoming adversity and answering two important questions: Is it possible for me to succeed? And, do I want it bad enough to do what it would take to make it happen? A dream of World Champion skydiver Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld.

Angela Stairs

Social Media Specialist

Angela has been trained in the art of the communication, with a particular agility with digital platforms and social media. She believes that different points of view make the world a more vibrant place and is always open to discovering a journey through a new perspective.

Content Marketing & PR Specialist at seoplus+, Angela is an adaptable storyteller with experience in writing and editing for newspapers, magazines, and online publications, as well as developing strategy and targeted messaging for communications and marketing projects in public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Heidi Lasi

Designer Extraordinaire

Heidi Lasi, an award-winning director, producer and writer with over 25 years of experience, is president of Communicarium, a firm specializing in strategic communications, marketing and PR.

Marise Varanda

Communications Specialist

A natural curiosity and a knack for storytelling led Marise Varanda straight into an early career of print and broadcast journalism. Now a Communications Specialist for Syntax Strategic, Marise manages public relations strategies, social media accounts and advocacy campaigns on behalf of clients in the life sciences, automotive, petroleum, technology, and not-for-profit sectors.

With a passion for all things related to science, health and psychology, Marise’s favourite TED talk is “Your body language shapes who you are” by Amy Cuddy.


Meike Buechler

Digital Marketing Specialist

As the owner of, Meike has 15+ years of marketing and communications experience gained around the globe in a variety of industries. While her services cover both online and offline activities, Meike’s true passion is digital: endless possibilities and ever evolving!

Meike is Google AdWords and Analytics certified and has a degree in Business Administration as well as a Postgraduate Marketing Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). Her favourite TED Talk? Mel Robbins on “How to Stop Screwing Yourself”.


Kasandra Darwin

Volunteer Wrangler

Kasandra is a Customer Success Coach at Member365, an all-in-one software for membership-based organizations. She brings a passion for coordinating events and getting people together.

Born and raised in Vernon, British Columbia, Kasandra holds a Psychology and Spanish degree from UBC and a Human Resources Management Certificate from Algonquin College.

In her free time, Kasandra enjoys travelling and learning new things.
